Why I love running writing retreats

I love being with my clients, and there is something special about working intensively. Like on this year’s writing retreat, spending time with 5 lovely ladies in a beautiful village nestled in the Andalucian Mountains.

You might be interested how these events came about as this is the second time I’ve run my writing retreat.

One of my clients, Rebecca Adams – who lived in Spain for 20+ years – said to me in 2013 that she’d love to run retreats in Spain, and I replied saying that I’d love to bring my clients, so a perfect match was born. I ran the pilot in 2014 and the second one last weekend, and we’ll be back in 2016. It’s already in the diary!

Since this initial conversation, Rebecca has set up European Coaching Retreats with my help. The beauty of having Rebecca on board is that I (and my clients) don’t need to worry about a thing. She organises the apartments, breakfast, dinner in one of the local restaurants, translation, walks through the mountains, and she has a wonderful knowledge of the area, having lived there for many years.

Rebecca knows the people who own the leather and cheese shops, and you wouldn’t know were there without her insider knowledge. The feedback I got from my clients is that they feel safe knowing that there is someone there in case of any problems.

What I love about retreats, especially for writing, is that this environment is inspiring. Generally peaceful, with the occasional motorbike passing through and dog barking!

The weather was hot too, allowing inspired conversations around the pool when my clients took breaks in their writing.

When you remove yourself from day to day distractions, you get things done. With my support, you can explore ways to structure your book, explore writing tips marketing tactics, and bounce ideas off me about how you can use your book as a business tool once you’ve written it.

For me, it also gave me space. When my clients didn’t need me, I had time to think and plan. I did the final edits on my fourth book and also started another!!
