My book was a 4am lightbulb moment [testimonial]
The idea to write and publish the book was a 4am lightbulb moment over four years ago.
After ten years, and conducting over 800 funeral services, burials, cremations, memorial services and burial of ashes, and one to one meetings with bereaved families to plan their loved ones services, I realised there was no definitive book or written material to help and assist bereaved families of the complexities and opportunities for a funeral.
I touted the original draft to several publishing businesses, and received offers for self-publishing through them, which did not seem very feasible. So I started the route of finding design and printers, and publish the book myself.
After several false starts with design and printing companies I found a company that understood my vision, they produced excellent design concepts, but pointed out that I had some serious copy right issues, which stopped the project dead in the water for two years, as I had no idea how to overcome them. I was introduced to Karen at Librotas, and explained my vision and objectives for the book, we agreed on a route forward using her experience, services and contacts.
Following extensive research by Tracy, a colleague of Karen’s, as much work as could realistically be carried out checking poems and readings for copy right, and deleting them where necessary was completed. Once this was completed, Sam Pearce took over the designs and concept, and Sam created the book that I could see over four years previously. All this work had to be proofed, which was carried out by Louise to the highest of standards.
The working title, became the title, as it does what it says on the tin. Due to Karen’s work, the book is now a reality.
