Author Spotlight interview with Saar Ben Attar
"The concept of ecosystems has fascinated me for many years. The problem I found, of course, was that there were many marvellous books before me - I lost count at 24. And they are all wonderful in their own way. But it struck me that all of these great works talk about what ecosystems are. They talk about the role of challengers, but they don't name it, and they don't lead with a practitioner's mind."

Here are some of the highlights from the interview with Saar Ben-Attar
- The concept behind ecosystems is the importance of collaboration and the fact that nobody achieves anything in isolation. And Saar walked his talk with the book writing process. He says "My best advice to anyone out there either already writing a book or considering writing one, is do get a book mentor. Get someone who can guide you through the process. You can get away with one rough idea when writing a blog. You might just have a strong opening, a strong closing, and in between, the logic might be a little bit fuzzy, but that's OK. People will still read it and might even like your post. When you write a book with multiple chapters, with various sections and major transitions, your level of rigour rises up a few notches."
- Saar benefited hugely from attending regular 'writer's hours' where he'd often be writing online alongside 200 other writers. This was a huge source of motivation alongside working with our other authors on the Smart Author - Fast Track programme.
- He talks about the importance of research to ensure your book stands out from the crowd. Saar talks to Sheryl about the many interviews he undertook as part of this project: "People started sharing with me the extraordinary challenges that they've taken on and the real meaning and impact it had on their own lives and the people around them. And that made me challenge my own mindset. Perhaps the most rewarding part of writing a book is that you grow and you learn as part of the process."
