Stop procrastinating and start writing
Are you procrastinating over writing your book?
You’ve got the ideas, knowledge and expertise, but do you find that the actual art of sitting down to write your book doesn’t get done?
Is there always something better or more important to do than actually focusing on your book?
I’ve had many people contact me recently who are in this place. And if you feel this way, then this blog post is for you.
Now I appreciate that procrastinating is normal. We all do it. I’ve done it. But if you don’t do your best to get over it, then you’ll never get your book written.
Is this why you’re procrastinating?
When it comes to writing a book, sure it can feel overwhelming. You may start with blank canvas and some ideas in your head. That’s why I work with my clients to develop a clear plan for their book, and break it into bite sized chunks. This makes it easier for them to see how they can start and then finish it.
It can also feel daunting. That’s why I walk alongside my clients every step of the way to help them to manage the things that might stop them otherwise.
It is also scary. That’s why I encourage my clients to stick their head above the parapet and value their wisdom and expertise.
If procrastinating is a thing for you right now, then writing your book probably isn’t a priority. There are other things that get in the way and overtake its importance.
But unless you make it a priority, then I doubt if it will ever happen.
If you always dream and you never do it (just like we talked about on the recent book masterclass), how would you feel?
How would you feel if…
Someone else writes the book that you want to write, and you see their book grow their business rather than it doing the same for you.
You never get a chance to write it. How would you feel if you left this world without having the chance to share your knowledge with others and leave a legacy?
This time next year you’re still saying ‘One day I’ll write my book’, and then years later you are still thinking about doing it, but you haven’t done it?
Are you ready to stop procrastinating and start writing?
Then here are some steps you can take:
- Make the decision to start writing your book. Put some dates in your diary, including writing time and your launch date. Then it’s more likely to actually happen.
- Break the project into manageable chunks rather than seeing it as one big overwhelming book writing task.
- Make your book a priority. When you can see how it will benefit your business, then this will help to make it a must rather than a might.
- Take time to plan your book, then you’ll see your process and structure in black and white rather than just a melee in your head.
- Just write. And I mean uncensored, unedited writing. Set yourself a timer and just start to get your words down on paper.
- Contact me to have a chat to see how I can help you to make it happen.
