Why my new book won’t be on your bookshelf this Autumn
This week, I’m creating the audiobook for B
ecoming An Authority. I’m off to narrate the second half of my new book later today.
If you’ve been following my journey over the last few months, you’ll know that this is my sixth book. As you may have already read Your Book is the Hook and Book Marketing Made Simple, I wanted to do something different with this one.
Many things have changed since I started writing books 10 years ago. And when I started research for the first chapter, which focuses on the changes in the publishing arena, I was staggered by the audiobook stats.
The fastest growing area in digital publishing
According to The Publishers Association, audiobook downloads hit a record £31 million sales in 2017, up 22% upon the previous year.
The audiobook market is the fastest growing area in digital publishing.
And over the last few months, many of my clients have asked for my help in this area.
That’s why Becoming An Authority was published as an audiobook first.
I wrote the book in bite-sized chunks with audio in mind.
I booked time at Igloo Voice-Over studios in Hampshire to record it.
And I approached a company in the US who did the hosting and distribution. As I was going audio first, they asked me to share this experience with their audience.
So my new book won’t be on your book shelf this autumn. But I will be in your ears, inspiring you with great new content, with stories from clients who have achieved amazing success with their books. I’m not saying that it won’t become a print book and e-book in the future, but I have no plans at the moment.
