Author Spotlight interview with Rachel Bennett
As the world was gripped by the tumultuous events of COVID-19, Rachel Bennett found herself at a crossroads. The burnout from the ongoing crises made her yearn for a change that wouldn't necessarily elevate her to a higher rung in the corporate ladder, nor keep her stationed where she was.
So she made the decision to quit her job and start her own business. HR Fusion was the result. She decided to uncover her niche, get clear on her message, and she also decided to write her first book.
After reading lots of books about how to write a book, Rachel didn’t feel confident enough to embark on the journey by herself. So she signed up for our writing retreat to Spain in 2023, and began by working through our Smart Author System programme.

Here are some of the takeaways from Rachel Bennett's interview.
- Frank Oppenheimer said, “The best way to learn is to teach”. Rachel found the book writing process a great way to deepen her knowledge and to explore the topic of cultures further.
- Writing can be cathartic, and it is worth getting support if revisiting some parts of your personal story are difficult. Rachel found her lowest point was when she attended the retreat, and she needed time, support and sunshine to develop the narrative further.
- Past ability with reading and writing do not have to prevent you from producing a book. Rachel left education without being able to read and write very well, and then became addicted to her own personal and professional development.
- The book has already increased her visibility. As Rachel says in the interview, "If you’ve written a book, you must know what you’re talking about!"
