Want to write a book?

There’s something special about being in the mountains in South West Spain. When I wrote this blog post, I was sat by the pool on my writing retreat with 4 of my clients. Soaking up the sunshine (and trying to avoid the odd shower), breathing in fresh air, going for inspirational walks and meditations, and doing some writing as well. I’ve been working too! It’s a tough life mentoring my clients in this beautiful environment, masterminding over coffee, planning and exploring new ideas, and putting the world to rights over scrumptious meals. This is why the retreat has been so magical:

  • My clients have had the time and space to write, away from their usual day to day distractions.
  • They’ve had the chance to recharge their batteries, get some fresh air and exercise, as well as high quality downtime to get re-inspired.
  • Although it was purposefully relatively unstructured, there have been focused periods of time to get stuff done with support from me each step of the way.
  • The comradery of a group of like-minded individuals has meant that the notebooks have come out over dinner as thoughts and ideas continue to flow and develop.

We’ve been looked after well too! Rebecca Adams from European Coaching Retreats has been our host, her fluent Spanish making it easy for me, and her local knowledge supporting our stay. She has guided us on many walks, organised lovely meals, and been on hand for me and the group. We’ve been developing these plans since last summer, as Rebecca is one of my clients too. She also joined us on the retreat, and we’ve also been working on her business as well. One of the things that she said to me over the weekend was “I now know the importance of time out with your mentor”.  And it’s amazing what we’ve created in such a short space of time – and there is a book immerging too! The writing and planning has been inspired. I’ve been helping my writing clients to develop their signature systems, exploring concepts and ideas, and I’ve also been an integral part of some late night planning sessions. They’ve shared with me comments such as “I’ve had the time to think that I needed”, “I’ve got the clarity and framework to continue when I get home”, “I’ve had the quality time with nothing else getting in the way”, and “I can see the end of my book now and that’s great!” The power of the group has made it perfect too. A meditation designed by one of the members set us up each day, and the continual inspired conversations have been invaluable. To be honest, none of us really wanted to leave this place on Tuesday… That’s why I’ll be back next year – will you? I’ve already booked the writing retreat for next year – the same beautiful location from 24-29 September 2015. To get more information, go to this page and I’ll send you details. Same time, same place 2015! Not sure about writing a book? Before I go, if you’re not sure whether writing a book for you, then I’d love to have a chat with you. Your book is the hook that will get you noticed, will grow your business, and help you to attract more clients.  It is a great way to explore and demonstrate your expertise, reach more people, and build a community of people who love what you do!
