What's on your 'About you' webpage?

If I looked at your ‘About you‘ page on your website, what would I see?

Would it be the same as everyone else, or something different, engaging and interesting?

Too many business owners share the same old stuff.

They talk about their qualifications, experience, accreditations, but not enough about who they really are and why they do what they do. (Or perhaps they don’t have any details about themselves at all!)

I’m sorry to say this, but this stuff isn’t important when you want to stand out from everyone one else in your industry.

If I really probed deeply, I’m sure that you have a story to share; one that has led you to where you are today – your choice of business, the people you work with and the type of thing that you do.

Perhaps you’ve gone through what your clients have experienced so it allows you to emphasise with them and share your experiences.

Maybe you have a passion to share that is demonstrated when you tell people why you do what you do.

I’m sure that you have had turning points in your life that have impacted on the decisions that you have made and will impact on the lives of others too.

Let me give you some examples.

I recently saw the film ‘One Chance’ about the story of Paul Potts, who won Britain’s Got Talent in 2007. Now he didn’t http://premier-pharmacy.com/product-category/skin-care/ just turn up one day at the audition as an opera singer, he had a history, some poignant moments in his life and experiences that caused his life to change as well.  He had a story.

You’ll often hear the rags and riches stories of entrepreneurs who have lost and gained millions of pounds, and of course we know that celebrities have plenty of tales to share as well!

You have a story too.

People buy from people and this is your chance to share who you really are, including a few photographs and a message from you. Or perhaps a video if you feel brave enough!

And it’s not just about your ‘About you’ page on your website where this is important.  When you stand out in your business, people will get to know you through your speaking, networking or possibly your books, so what is the message that you want to portray?

  • What is your story?
  • What have been the turning points in your life that have led you to here and now?
  • What learning points does this give your clients?
  • How can you share this story with your clients?

I’d love to hear your story, so please feel free to post it below.
