The simplest things make the biggest difference

I teach business owners how to stand out. But it’s not about being bold, brash or famous, it’s about the simple things that they can do differently. Those things that make the biggest distinction to their business.

Many people try to over complicate things with intricate messages, long and complex elevator pitches, and confusing web pages. But all this does is sabotage your business success.

If no one gets what you do, or you bore people by not getting to the point, you won’t get noticed – at least not for the right reasons.

Simple is best.  Let me give you examples from some of my clients and friends. I can identify:

One who has been through a terrible experience, and through working with her clients she can help them to avoid a similar situation.

Another who has a skill that sets her aside from others in her profession, and is pretty unique in her industry.

A person who has knowledge that comes naturally to her. This thing that others are willing to pay good money for and she also knows that this has a huge positive impact on their businesses too.

And one who is hugely intuitive and finds it easy to see new angles and generate ideas when the client feels that all is lost.

Yet how many entrepreneurs actually celebrate these skills and distinct points of difference?

You know those little things that stand you aside from other people in your industry? Or do you actually realise you have them in the first place?

There are business models out there that point out that we don’t always know our strengths (and also our weaknesses!) but with a bit of thought and time (and the input of others), you can discover these simple things.  Or if you’re a client of mine, I might point them out for you!

We’re not a nation to sing our praises from the roof tops, yet it’s often these simple things that can make the biggest difference to your business and also to your clients.

So stop making things difficult for yourself.

Why don’t you start now and work out what makes you shine.  What is the simplest thing that you do that makes you different? How can you get this gift to your clients?

This is absolutely true. For us at Esli it’s KISS : keep it simple and smart, home delivery for busy mums and willingness to source for items we don’t stock for our customers. We also endeavor to celebrate with our kids on their birthdays and these come naturally.
