Writing a book? You must do this first!

70% of my one-to-one clients are writing or have written a book. They recognise the power of being an author in the ongoing growth of their business.

But the writing isn’t where it starts. Nor is it with the marketing. Before they put any words onto paper, there is one essential thing that they really need to do first.

That is this: they need to get their business ready for writing their book.

Now here’s the thing. Even the other 30% are focusing on this too. That’s because the process of being book ready (which I share in my new book) is about knowing what you do well, being an expert, building your credibility, and getting noticed, even if the whole writing thing is not happening right now. If ever!

I mean that:

You get clear on who your ideal client is and what they want from you
You build a community of people who love what you do and want more of it
You acknowledge your competitors and what makes you different
You have an effective marketing strategy, rather than a scattergun approach which costs you time and money
People know what you do and the results you get, and find it easy to refer others to you
It’s the thing that enables you to get clear not only about what you do, but the unique way in which you do it.

To be honest, your book is the cherry on the top of the cake.

This is the tool that allows people to find out about your philosophy or approach before they engage you.

It’s the thing that allows you to reach more people than you can do with your website or online presence.

It will also help you to get in front of the right people, which you may struggle to do without this calling card.
