Interview with Claire Brumby, author of The Winning Mix
Most Librotas client books tend to be either 'how-to' books or autobiographies. Very few successfully straddle the two. But Claire Brumby's first book is an exception.
Claire founded a multi-award winning healthier snacking brand. This led to her being invited to St James Palace, networking with royalty, pitching on Dragons Den, and rubbing shoulders with celebrities. But it wasn't all a positive experience. There were days of huge hardship when everything went wrong and she struggled to pay the bills.
Claire is now a coach, mentor, speaker and consultant. She works with food businesses nationally and internationally from start-ups to established ones looking for growth. So when she decided to write her book, it made perfect sense to not only share her journey, but also the things that she wish she'd known when going through the experience. Her book has now become the go-to manual for her clients.
She started working with Librotas in November 2017 and published her book in September 2018. Not only did Claire write and publish her book in 10 months, she also trained to swim the channel in a relay team at the same time!
I had the pleasure of recently interviewing Claire and asked her to share her journey and her tips for budding authors. You can watch the interview below.
Find out about Claire's successes, including reaching number two in the Amazon charts, 33 Five Star reviews to date, and she has recently reached the Finals of the Business Book Awards.
Here are Claire's tips for budding authors:
1. Don't put off writing your book. If you haven't done it yet, why not? Stop putting obstacles in your way and you can find the time if you really want to do it and be disciplined to make it happen.
2. Chunk down the completion of your book. Claire measured success by the number of words written and got up at 5am to get it done.
3. Look at your why as this will help you to stay on track. Remember the difference your book will make to your business and clients, which will help even when you don't feel like doing it!
