How to successfully launch a book [week 7 – Collaborations]
Too many people overcomplicate the book writing process. They think it's all on them to write and market their book.
Of course, they can get a book coach or a book mentor to help them, but what I mean in this context is developing collaborations.
It's certainly been one of the secrets to my success over the years.
If you saw my masterclass with Fiona Harrold earlier this week, this is a perfect example. Fiona kindly wrote an endorsement for the upcoming second edition of Book Marketing Made Simple and, whilst talking, we looked at ways we could support each other.
I’m sure you’ve heard of the phrase, "It’s not what you know, it’s who you know" and I’ve also applied this principle to my book. You can watch my latest book marketing update here and find out why I didn't write 12% of my book!
Book writing and marketing collaborations
So how have I used collaborations to my advantage (and to the collaborators advantage too!)?
- I have included experts and client stories in the book
- There are 13 experts and 26 case studies
- The expert tips by themselves are 7500 words and the case studies have been developed in collaboration with my clients
- All of these add more value and expertise and will make the book even more impactful
- They have led to what I have achieved this week and that's recording the first interviews for my podcast!
So, if I said that you could use your connections and collaborations to write and market your book, would this be a good strategy to follow?
