Interview with Lindsay Maclean, author of Speak Up & Be Heard

Lindsay MacleanI could relate to Lindsay Maclean when she told me about her childhood. Like me, she was shy. Her school reports said she was “a very nervous child”. But also, like me, she didn’t let this hold her back.

With support from her teachers, she started to develop her confidence. After university, she joined a leadership training company, and the strategies she learnt not only transformed Lindsay’s life, they helped her to go on and make a huge impact on the lives of others. She created her own process, ielevate, which helps individuals to become confident communicators.

I met Lindsay when I did my TEDx Talk in October 2017 (Lindsay later went on to present her own TEDx), and she started working with Librotas the following month. Speak Up & Be Heard was published earlier this year.

I recently interviewed Lindsay to find out what’s happened since she published her book, and her top tips for authors.

You can listen to the interview here.

So what has happened since Lindsay published her first book?

She was delighted when Flybe chose her book for the ‘Editor’s Pick’ for their in-flight magazine, and she’s had some amazing publicity in other publications.

Plus she has already got two major corporate clients who have come directly from her book!

To top it off, wonderful feedback from readers and clients has made the whole experience more than worth while. And she’s already working on book number 2!

I asked Lindsay for her advice for anyone thinking about writing a book and she said: “Get on and do it!’

Listen to the interview now – it’s just 13 minutes long – just enough time for a biccie and cuppa!
