It’s never too early to start marketing your book

It’s never too early to start marketing your book.

We actively encourage clients to shout about their book before they’ve started to write it, and to continue their promotion for many months and years after its launch. This is the best way to maximise sales, reach more people, and achieve the best success with your book.
In my view, there are three phases to marketing your book.

Pre-launch

In the initial stage, you’ll be gathering information from your ideal readers and clients, all very valuable and non-salesy marketing strategies. This includes things like surveys, interviews, and general conversations to find out what your reader wants to hear from you in your book (which may well generate content for your book) – ideally before you start to write it.

Once you’ve started writing your book, I suggest you build your community of people who want to read it. This will usually be done through building your mailing list, blogs, podcasts, videos, social media, networking and whichever methods you choose to do this (although ideally where your ideal readers will find you!)

All of this means that when you launch your book, you’ll have a hungry crowd of people already poised to buy it. And if you have a pre-sales page on your website, people can order and pay for it before you’ve even finished it!

Launch

Once you’ve finished the phases of writing, editing, design and publishing, then it’s time to launch your book.

Most clients do one or more of the following – having a book launch party, doing an Amazon bestseller launch, or creating a PR campaign to maximise the effectiveness of this launch period.

With all of these, having a great team of people supporting you and promoting your book on your behalf is key to getting your book out to as many cialis online people as possible who need to read it!

Post-launch

Your hard work isn’t over once once you’ve written your book. If you put it on Amazon without any marketing activity, it’s simply not going to sell. And quite frankly, that will mean that it’s been a waste of time writing it.

So this is the stage to ramp up your publicity through speaking, podcasts, interviews, guest blogging, expos, blog tours, and the like, alongside following up with those who have purchased your book by encouraging Amazon reviews, perhaps running a competition or launching a product off the back of the book.

So where do you start Karen?

There are dozens of ways you can market your book and it can feel a little overwhelming I’m sure. That’s why this April, I’m running the Book Marketing Challenge for the second time.

I’ll share with you 30 daily strategies to market your book, whether you wish to improve your LinkedIn profile, master your blogging, or want suggestions to get more speaking gigs (plus 27 more!). And all are designed to take less than 30 minutes to implement, so that you can fit them into your daily routine, alongside running your business and having a life!

Whether you have a seed of an idea, have already started to write your book or are in the post-launch phase, I can guarantee that there are lots of simple things you can do to sell more copies, continue to raise your profile and make a profit from your book.

We start on Sunday 1 April and when you sign up before 30 March, you’ll get access to the whole programme for just £97 (less than half price).
