Author Spotlight interview with Nick Fewings

As a speaker, Nick Fewings is often asked whether he has a book. As it’s assumed and expected.

And Nick’s answer was always no. With 30 years’ experience of working with teams all around the world, he had plenty of content but not enough time. Although that changed in March 2020!

Like many of the authors featured in the Author Spotlight series, Nick used the pandemic as an opportunity to write his book. Team Lead Succeed will be published early 2022.

Also, like many of the authors featured in this series, Nick sought out the Librotas Smart Author System to give him the knowledge and framework from which to write his book.

Sheryl Andrews interviewed Nick Fewings for our Author Spotlight series to chat about his book writing journey. You can watch it here or click to listen to the audio.

Here are some of the biggest insights.

It’s great to see that Nick followed my advice. One of the things I focus heavily on in the Smart Author System is planning and structure. Because I know that it’s easier to write a book and easier for your readers to read when there is a solid framework that encases your content.

Before he started writing his book, Nick created a spreadsheet for the 16 chapters of his book and created a memorable methodology from this. And the structure of each chapter is the same, but the content is different.

But during the writing period, Nick’s dog, Zippo, unfortunately passed away. His creative space came from the walks they enjoyed together every day, and he was devastated by the loss. He realised that life can throw us curve balls at times and it’s OK to press pause. But once he and his wife rescued Lucy from Greece, his creativity returned, and Nick finished writing his book.

Nick’s biggest success to date is feedback from his peer readers who love his book. There’s a great buzz about his book already and people are starting to order it.

And Nick has walked his talk. He talks about the importance of teams in his book and he embraced that with the publication of his book. He worked with my recommended team to pull it together in terms of the editing, design and publication, and he’s looking forward to launching his book soon.
