How to make sure you write the right book!
The most common challenge that many business owners have when they decide to write a book is where to start.
They are brimming with ideas and they struggle to pick the one that is best for their audience.
Some people know that they have multiple books inside of them and they don’t know which one to write first.
But ultimately they want a strong and solid structure, and they’d like to have the whole sequence to take them from idea to publication.
But they may miss the most important point, and that is to ensure that they are writing the right book.
Don’t make this mistake
Writing the wrong book was one of the cock-ups that I talked about on my recent online training webinar.
It’s something that I’ve seen other people do far too often, and I’ve included a case study on this very topic in my new book, Your Book is the Hook.
It’s a very easy mistake to make, especially if you’re not clear on what you do specifically – and is potentially one of the downsides of being offered a publishing deal.
To write the right book, the most important thing to remember that the end game is not actually writing your book. Your end game is to use it as the hook to grow your business. You want to be writing for the right reader, solving the right problem, and giving them the solution that they need.
If you’re too general in your text, don’t have a clear outcome for your reader, or are trying to cover too much ground, then it’s less likely to do the job that you intend it to do.
One of the secrets that I share in my new book is to have your ideal reader in mind everything you put your hand to your keyboard or your pen to paper. That way you will be giving them exactly what they want and stay on topic.
You’ve also got to have a clear structure and plan before you get started. That way you’ll stay on track and it will make it much easier to write.
