There is no such thing as a free lunch

There is no such thing as a free lunch

One of the upsides of the internet is that you get access to more information than ever.  And most of it is free.

You want new marketing tips; then you go onto Google.

You want to get social media strategies; then you can download a free e-book.

You want business advice, and many people will give you their time for free.

But there is no such thing as a free lunch.

The downside of the wealth of information available is that you…

  • Feel overwhelmed, have too much information and you don’t know what to do with it.
  • Waste a lot of time surfing the web, and never get time to actually do what you wanted when you started.
  • Go full steam ahead, but it doesn’t take long before you’re not sure where to turn or don’t know what to do next.
  • Receive conflicting information and you start to find that you don’t know who or what to believe.
  • Don’t know what to do first, so you probably won’t do anything at all.

There is no substitute for paying for good quality business and marketing information.  You might say that being a Business Coach, I would say that, but…

1. When you attend a high-quality event, like the Star Biz conference, it is experimental. You get to practice and integrate what you learn, share experiences, and meet like minded people. You also have a chance to set yourself realistic targets and get taught the actual steps that you need to take to make them happen.

2. When you work with an effective coach or a mentor (like me!), you get regular accountability, personalised support and a kick up the backside every now and then :-).  You get your hand held every step of the way, and the programme is tailor made to you (rather than a 1000 other people). Plus your coach has your best interests at heart – as they want you to succeed and tell other people about them!

3. When you work through programmes like those in The Business Wow Factor, as well as getting access to tried and tested information, you get step by step processes to help you to achieve results in your business. You also get all the information in one place that is easily searchable and you can use the forum to ask questions, get advice or ask for help.

4. When you get access to an expert webinar, you expect  the speaker to tell you how you can take the next step and get even better results.

Now let’s look at some of the cold hard facts.

If, conservatively, you charge £60 per hour for your services, you could easily spend 2 hours doing research online. It’s amazing how time flies when you start, isn’t it?

When was the last time you assessed how much time you spent doing this ‘research’? And how much it costs you in your business?

How would it be if you invested that money into something else where you could get a tangible outcome and measurable results?

What do you think?

    You are so right Karen!
It’s like buying a dress in the dark that you can’t try on, as opposed to telling a dressmaker what you want and having it made to fit!
