Why I rebranded to Librotas

For KingsleyYou might be wondering why I’ve rebranded my business from Self Discovery Coaching to Librotas, so I’d love to tell you the story.

When I started out in business, I was a coach and like many businesses, mine has evolved. Although Self Discovery Coaching was a great brand in the early days – I took my clients on a journey of self-discovery – but it hasn’t worked for a while, leading to a mismatch between my message and my brand, something that I’ve recognised happens to many of my clients too.

My business started to evolve in 2010 when I wrote my first book, and started working as a business coach specialising in helping coaches and consultants with their business and marketing. It evolved again in 2014, when I committed to helping these people to write the book that helped them to grow their business. So it’s been a long time coming!

In autumn 2015, I decided the time had come to make the leap, and given that my name ‘Karen Williams’ isn’t unique (and it’s surprising – in not an entirely good way! –  when you Google it), I decided to work with a branding expert. He helped me to create something new and innovative, which wasn’t already in the business arena – Librotas.

Librotas iconLibrotas is an etymology (a made up word), which stems from two words:

Libro – latin for book

Liberas – meaning freedom

Through working with this branding expert, I became aware of my brand values and how I help my clients. And it isn’t just about helping them to write and publish their book, and use it as a marketing tool!

I help my clients to understand their strengths and knowledge, and to embrace and own this expertise. This knowledge helps them to empower others, and change lives through their wisdom.

This enables them to overcome their obstacles and barriers to business growth to create a sense of personal freedom and clarity within them, giving them the confidence to get their message out into the world.

My aim is to allow my clients to be courageous enough to tell their story, and make a difference – to their own lives and those of others.

We’ve all got a bigger message to share with the world and I’d like to help you to share yours with those who need to hear it!

What do you think of the rebrand?

I’d love your comments below.

I love it! I actually thought it was a made up word from ‘library and atlas/travel/exploring books when I first seen it last month so I guess I was reasonable close! 🙂

Thanks Helen! I thought it was worth explaining.

I perceived it as libro – library and tas – suitcase (Dutch/ Afrikaans word). 🙂 Clearly it didnt mean tbat but thats what i made up. Lol!

Got same problem with my name as you found… and my website very out of date. Time for me to transition too. Well done for getting it done!

Ha ha, I didn’t even think about looking at the word in different languages! Yes of course you do and I’d recommend Carl Lamerton if you want any support. Good luck with your transition Helen, it’s well worth it. For me, just getting clarity of what I actually do was a hugely eye opening. If you remember, my first meeting with Carl was the week after your course, so all brilliant timing!

It was great to read your message regarding your rebrand to Librotas and I still feel really honoured to be given the opportunity to create this with you and to help design an identity to help you remember all that was discovered too.
The words reminded me of our branding session and all the wonderful thoughts and ideas that came out of the conversation, including the ideas in creating a new name.
It was great fun and really inspiring working with you and now even better to read how you have taken on your brand and to truly see what it is you really do for your clients. To see how you help to empower these people to not only write ‘their’ book, but also to let them see how their knowledge and experiences can inspire their own readers.

I wish you all the very best with Librotas and in helping others to share knowledge through freedom and clarity.
