Why you and your story matters
One of the reasons why some of my clients write their books is to share their story.
They've been through experiences that will help others.
They want to give people the tools that they didn't have.
It's also cathartic to get their message down on paper.
But it's not always easy.
I certainly found this when I wrote The Mouse That Roars, and I shared part of my story in last week's blog. As well as the experiences I recounted, my inner critic got in the way more times than I care to mention! And if it wasn't for the support that I received to write and edit it, it would probably still be on the back-burner.
I wrote this book because I knew I had a bigger message to share: a message that was bigger than my fear.
Sure there are times when it feels scary to be vulnerable. And there's very little that people don't know about me now! But I'm glad I did it.
I have clients going through similar situations too. They are writing their books due to the experiences that have changed the way they live their lives.
Your story matters.
You can inspire people through your book.
You can use your journey to educate, inform and change the lives of your http://premier-pharmacy.com/product-category/allergy/ readers.
When I work with clients who are sharing their story in a memoir-style book, I suggest they follow the hero's journey format. This allows you to take your readers on your path - whether you're sharing a specific experience or your whole life story.
Here are some questions to answer:
- What turning points did you face?
- What difficulties did you overcome?
- Which tools and resources do you wish you'd had when you needed them?
- How are you going to use this book to help others going through a similar experience?
